Scenes From Author Visits

Farmersville Elementary School in the Bethlehem School District went all out for My Teacher for President - from the Welcome sign on the lawn, to familiarizing students with Kay's books, to  projects done in every classroom relating to the election and My Teacher for President

During the assembly, Kay did an activity where students from K-5th grade spelled out the word President while the audience chanted, " P is for President. My teacher would make a great President". "R is for Read. My teacher could teach the whole world how to read"...

At the end of the day, the principal, Pamela Hubbard, took Kay on a tour of the building to see the various projects the children had created around the election theme. Students posed proudly by their essays on  teacher candidates for President.

Franconia Elementary School (Montgomery Co., PA)

At Franconia Elementary School in Montgomery County, the visit was carefully organized by Joan Shellenberger, reading specialist. A salad spread was featured at noon for the faculty. Jennifer Kling took these pictures during the assembly. Here is an elementary student participating in the Poetry Troupe.

The principal, Joe Mraz, was a super good sport as he “volunteered” to catch the chicken pox.
In this shot, children are hoping to be selected for the Poetry Troupe!

                        Villa Victoria Academy (Ewing, NJ)

In honor of Dr. Seuss's birthday, Kay did an author visit at Villa Victoria Academy, a Catholic School for children in Ewing, New Jersey. She was delighted to find her audience dressed  as characters in children's books. Here is the daring, adventuresome Madeline... straight from the Streets of Paris., and the timeless tale of Ludwig Bemelmans!
